artisan cover design
Frankenstein
Genre: Horror, gothic, classic and science fiction.
Audience: General, students.
Inspired by vintage anatomical drawings, the Creature is etched in a vintage style to represent the novel’s historical setting. The cover centres on an agonised Creature during it’s rebirth to symbolises it’s lonely and tormented existence thereafter. The contemporary mud colour, see in the spine, author’s name and illlustration, pays homage to the original ‘Modern Promethus’ subtitle were the bright orange stitching illustrates the Creature’s reconstruction, and also aligns with the Penguin Publishing’s branding. Finally, a mute blue is subtly shown as electricity to demonstrate the theory of galvanism that Shelley suggests is Frankenstein’s method of reanimation.
This project is a creative concept to illustrate my creative skills.
